Our History
Rockrider® was founded in 1997 as an in-house mountain biking brand for the French sporting goods retailer, Decathlon. We started with a small selection of hardtail mountain bikes and have since grown into an internationally recognized cycling brand offering a full range of mountain bikes, electric bikes, cycling apparel, protection gear, components, and accessories.
Throughout our history, Rockrider® has stayed true to our core values of quality, innovation, and value. We work directly with factories to develop proprietary technologies and source high-quality components while keeping costs low. This direct business model allows us to offer feature-packed bikes and gear at prices that make cycling more accessible.
Over the years, Rockrider® has achieved a number of biking firsts:
- In 1999, we developed one of the first full-suspension mountain bikes under £1000.
- In 2005, we launched our first carbon hardtail mountain bikes priced under £1000.
- In 2012, we introduced the first full-suspension electric mountain bike under £2000.
- In 2017, we debuted our first full-suspension enduro bike with proprietary OSS suspension technology.
- In 2022, we released our lightest electric mountain bike yet, weighing under 15kg.

Hardtail Mountain Bikes
Our hardtail mountain bike line includes everything from nimble cross-country racers to aggressive trail and enduro machines. Aluminium frames keep weight down while providing precise handling, and we offer select carbon frames for the ultimate XC performance. Full-Suspension Mountain Bikes
For rugged mountain terrain, Rockrider® full-suspension bikes soak up bumps and maintain traction with responsive, trail-tuned suspension. Our proprietary OSS suspension optimizes pedaling efficiency on the ups while providing control through rowdy downhills. Advanced frames accommodate 27.5″ or 29″ wheels and are fine-tuned for specific riding styles like trail, all-mountain, enduro, and even eMTB.
Electric Mountain Bikes
Rockrider® offers an extensive range of electric mountain bikes to enhance your trail experience. Powerful motors and long-lasting batteries let you ride farther and climb higher with less effort. Our lightweight eMTB frames provide a natural ride feel while cockpit displays and controls allow you to customize support on-the-fly. We have eMTBs tuned for everything from mellow cruising to aggressive enduro riding.
Gravel Bikes
For cyclists looking to explore beyond paved roads, Rockrider® gravel bikes allow you to venture onto dirt, gravel, and singletrack. Generous tire clearance, stable geometry, and vibration-damping capabilities ensure a smooth, controlled ride across variable terrain.
Urban Bikes
Rockrider® urban bikes are designed for comfortable commuting, cruising, and errands around town. Relaxed geometries, puncture-resistant tires, fenders, racks, and integrated lights make our urban bikes practical transportation for life in the city.

OSS Suspension
Our exclusive OSS (Optimized Suspension System) uses a compact, concentric link to drive the shock for increased sensitivity, mid-stroke support, and bottomless feel from the rear suspension. The result is a bike that pedals efficiently without sacrificing bump compliance and control.
Boost Frame & Wheels
Many of our mountain bikes utilize wider Boost hub spacing and frame clearances to provide stiffer wheels and improved handling. Boost gives you more control when the trail gets rough.
Shimano Steps E8000
We spec Shimano’s powerful Steps mid-mount motor and removable battery on our electric mountain bikes for clean aesthetics and balanced handling. The E8000 system provides seamless pedal assist with natural ride feel.
RockShoxSuspension
Rockrider® teams up with RockShox to outfit our bikes with proven suspension forks and rear shocks. From 30mm XC forks to beefy 180mm enduro units, RockShox gives you smooth bump absorption and customizable rebound and compression damping.
SRAM & ShimanoDrivetrains
To ensure precise shifting across varied terrain, our mountain bikes are equipped with reliable drivetrains from SRAM’s wide-range 1x Eagle and Shimano’s refined 2x systems.
